The City

Built up layer upon layer over many centuries, The City conceals countless secrets in the ruins beneath its streets. Today, order is enforced by the Baron’s Watch, who keep the residents of The City’s impoverished and Gloom-ridden districts apart from their wealthier neighbors.

Clock Tower

With its medieval architecture, the seemingly-abandoned Stonemarket Clock Tower is the oldest landmark in The City. Many residents take the fact that the clock still functions as proof that the tower is haunted, but the truth is that Garrett lives there, and maintains the ancient mechanism himself.

Crippled Burrick Pub

Located at the dark heart of Stonemarket, the Crippled Burrick Tavern is the favoured meeting place of The City’s smugglers and black marketeers. Basso, underworld entrepreneur and close associate of Garrett, has his headquarters in the basement.

Stonemarket District

By day, the ramshackle Stonemarket district is a hive of activity, but by night its shops are left unguarded by their owners. Their doors are locked, but by exploring Stonemarket’s rooftops and backstreets, a resourceful thief can find plenty of hidden entrances.

Auldale Bridge

This fortified bridge is the only route in and out of Auldale, whose well-heeled inhabitants rely on the Baron’s Watch to regulate crossings and keep their affluent district free of undesirables. However, the Watch can only police what they can see, and a skilled climber can avoid the road by scaling the buildings that line the bridge.

House of Blossoms

The House of Blossoms is a renowned brothel and luxurious opium den whose wealthy clients wear masks so that they may enjoy its decadent pleasures in anonymity. Like its owner, Madam Xiao Xiao, there is much more to it than meets the eye; it is built on the underground ruins of a mysterious library.

Our Lady of the Iron Litany Chapel

Since the ruling Northcrest family banned the worship of the old gods, this chapel has fallen into severe disrepair. However, its abandonment and its importance to The City’s oppressed people makes it the perfect home for the Queen of Beggars, who lives beneath it.

Northcrest Manor

For centuries, the Manor has been the seat of the Northcrest family, and is filled with strange artefacts that give clues to their sinister activities. The current Baron has built an imposing tower to house his office, but while its latest accretion now looms menacingly over The City, Northcrest Manor’s era of dominance over a disillusioned populace cannot last forever.
