Build Engineer
Feral Interactive is looking for a Build Engineer to join our development team. This is a central role interacting with all areas of the company and the successful candidate will be well placed to become a key member of our games’ development team.
Our industry-leading internal build system is responsible for building, packaging and distributing products and support materials to our internal QA and to Apple, Google, Steam, Nintendo and other online stores. It manages a multitude of projects simultaneously across numerous platforms. It is the heart of everything we do and needs a strong and committed person to ensure that it operates as smoothly, efficiently and reliably as possible.
Feral specialises in bringing AAA games to new platforms and audiences; our releases cover a range of genres and present a variety of challenges. Working closely with our development team, the Build Engineer ensures that all active projects can be built and deployed quickly and correctly on all required platforms, as well as troubleshooting problems encountered during building and distribution. This role requires independent working, but also open and supportive communication with the development team and other departments. It is ideal for someone who is excited by continual process improvement and the tangible gains in speed and productivity throughout the company that such a focus can bring.
Our Ideal candidate will have a demonstrably proactive attitude and a desire to seek out every opportunity to improve and streamline the process wherever possible. This is a permanent, full time position at our office in Wandsworth, south-west London.
Required Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of one or more scripting language, such as Perl, Python or Bash
- Good knowledge of basic UNIX command line tools
- Proactive problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Desired Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of markup languages, like XML or JSON
- Knowledge of C++ or Java
- Familiarity with macOS, iOS and Android based systems
- A determination to do your best work all of the time
