  1. Installation

    As part of the Steam download process, the game has already been installed on your computer. To start playing the game, read the Getting Started section.

  2. Getting Started

    1. Double-click on the Steam application icon. By default this is located in the Applications folder on your computer's hard drive.

    2. If you are not already signed in, the Steam Login dialog will appear. Enter your account name and password, then select Login.

    3. The Steam application will launch. Select the Library tab.

    4. In the library, highlight DiRT 4 in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select Play.

    5. The DiRT 4 pre-game Options window will appear. Click on the Play button. The game will launch.

    6. After the loading screens, the Title screen will appear. Press the Return (↩) key.

    7. A message will appear prompting you to create a new saved game. Select Create new save game.

    8. The Gamma screen will appear. Follow the on-screen prompts to adjust your picture quality.

    9. The Profile screen will appear. Fill in your details to create your profile, then select Confirm details.

    10. The RaceNet screen will appear. To use the online features in DiRT 4 create a new RaceNet account, or if you already have a RaceNet account, sign in. You may also skip this screen.

    11. The Handling Style screen will appear. You can choose between Gamer and Simulation. If this is your first time playing a rally game, we recommend Gamer.

    12. From here on in, your Crew Chief will be on hand to help you get to grips with rallying. Follow his instructions as you take to the track in the first race of your career!

  3. Uninstalling

    To uninstall DiRT 4, follow these steps:

    1. Double-click on the Steam application icon. By default this is located in the Applications folder on your computer's hard drive.

    2. If you are not already signed in, the Steam Login dialog will appear. Enter your account name and password, then select Login.

    3. The Steam application will launch. Select the Library tab.

    4. In the library, right-click on DiRT 4 in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select ManageUninstall.

    5. A dialog will appear confirming that you wish to delete all the game content. Select Uninstall.

  4. System Requirements

    The game is officially supported on the following Macs. To check your Mac model and when it was released, select About This Mac from the Apple menu on your menu bar.


    The Macs listed below are capable of running the game but do not consistently meet the standards required for official support. This means your computer will run the game, but is not able to get the best out of it in terms of performance, graphics and stability.

  5. DiRT 4 Performance Tips

    The most important factors in determining how smoothly DiRT 4 plays are your CPU speed, the amount of built-in RAM, the type of graphics card in your computer and the in-game settings you select.

    DiRT 4 is playable with the minimum specifications listed below, but it will play more smoothly on faster computers with more RAM. However, if you are dissatisfied with the performance of the game on your computer, there are a couple of things you can do that are likely to improve performance:


    In addition to these general Mac actions, there are numerous specific in-game settings you can select to speed up the game. These are listed below in order of performance improvement (largest improvement first). Move down the list adjusting settings until you find an acceptable balance between performance and graphics.


    NOTE: All of these settings are found in either DiRT 4's pre-game Options window under the Display tab or within the game under Options & ExtrasGraphicsVideo Mode or Options & ExtrasGraphicsAdvanced Graphics, accessible from the Main Menu.

  6. Technical Support

    Every effort has been made to make DiRT 4 as compatible with current hardware as possible. However, if you are experiencing problems when running DiRT 4, please read on.

    The latest version of the FAQs can be found by selecting the FAQs button in the Support tab of the DiRT 4 pre-game Options window (this is the window that opens when you launch the game), or by going straight to the Feral website: http://support.feralinteractive.com

    If the FAQs and/or updates do not solve your problem, then please feel free to contact us. The following information must be obtained before contacting Feral Technical Support:


    All the information required can be obtained by opening DiRT 4 and clicking on the Support tab in the DiRT 4 pre-game Options window. In the Support tab, click on the Generate Report button. Once the report is generated it will appear as a file in your ~/Downloads folder (the “~” symbol refers to your home directory). Now click on the Create Email button. Remember to attach the DiRT 4 Report.txt file to your email.

    In your email, please include a brief description of the problem you have experienced with DiRT 4.
