Yes. The gamepads in the following list have been tested and are supported by DiRT 4:
Other gamepads may work, but have not been tested and as such are not officially supported. If you have an unlisted gamepad that does not work with DiRT 4, email padsupport@feralinteractive.com with information about your device and our support team will try to help you.
Some gamepads support both DirectInput and XInput modes. These gamepads can be identified by a switch on them that has two options, “D” (DirectInput) and “X” (XInput).
To play DiRT 4 a gamepad must be supported and set to XInput mode.
Currently supported devices that have this switch are:
If your gamepad has the switch and is not on this list, you will not be able to use it to play DiRT 4 without a pad support file. To obtain one, email padsupport@feralinteractive.com and our support team will reply to you with a request for information about your device. Once we have this information, we can usually create a gamepad support file and email it to you.
To switch the gamepad to XInput mode, follow these instructions:
If the DiRT 4 application is running, close it.
Unplug the gamepad (or wireless receiver, if the gamepad is wireless).
Turn the switch on the pad to “X”.
Plug the pad or wireless receiver back in.
Restart the DiRT 4 application.
You will now be able to play DiRT 4 with the gamepad.

You may need to map the game controls to inputs on your wheel and its components (such as pedals, if available) before racing. To do so, follow these steps:
Ensure that your wheel and any components are connected to your computer, then launch DiRT 4.
From the Main Menu, select Options & Extras.
Select Input.
Select Device Management, then select your wheel in the Configure Device menu.
Select Input Bindings.
Select Accelerate, then perform the action on your wheel to which you wish to map the “accelerate” command.
Repeat step 6 for all the other game commands, mapping them to the desired action on your wheel.
NOTE: Force Feedback (FFB) is supported by Feral games. However, many hardware manufacturers do not provide Force Feedback drivers for Mac OS X. This means that Force Feedback may not currently work in DiRT 4.
Yes.
If you have a Retina display, you will be able to take advantage of the extra pixels by running DiRT 4 in native resolution. This means that the game will display one pixel for every pixel on your display.
To do this, follow these instructions:
From the DiRT 4 pre-game Options window, select the Display tab.
Select the largest resolution from the Resolution drop-down menu to play the game in native Retina resolution.
Click the Play button. The game will start in native Retina resolution.
NOTE: In many cases, increasing your game's resolution will impact upon its performance.
Yes, provided your machine also meets the rest of the game's system requirements. For more information on supported eGPU configurations, please refer to Apple's guidelines.
When using an eGPU, you may experience performance issues for the following reasons:
Your eGPU is plugged into the wrong port on your computer
You may experience reduced performance if your eGPU is not plugged into the correct port on your Mac. Please consult the Notes section at the bottom of Apple's eGPU guidelines.
Performance is limited by your processor (CPU)
Game performance is determined by a combination of your computer's graphics processor (GPU) capabilities and the power of its central processor (CPU). In particular, many graphical effects use the computer's GPU and CPU in unison; an eGPU has the potential to support better graphics, but there may still be limitations due to your computer's CPU.
Please note: DiRT 4’s default settings have been fine-tuned give you a good overall gameplay experience. If the default settings are altered, performance may be adversely affected across the game.
Short Apple keyboards do not have Home (↖), End (↘), Page Up (⇞), Page Down (⇟) or Delete (⌦) keys.
In order to use game commands that are mapped to these keys, you will need to use the Function (fn) key as follows:
Home (↖) = Function (fn) key + Left Arrow (◀) key
End (↘) = Function (fn) key + Right Arrow (▶) key
Page Up (⇞) = Function (fn) key + Up Arrow (▲) key
Page Down (⇟) = Function (fn) key + Down Arrow (▼) key
Delete (⌦) = Function (fn) key + Backspace (←) key
Your saved games are stored in your game's preferences folder.
To open this folder, click the Open Preferences Folder button in the Support tab of the pre-game Options window.
To take screenshots while playing DiRT 4 you should use the following key command:
Command (⌘) + Ctrl + P
When you press all three keys at once, a single image of the on-screen contents will be saved in the Feral Interactive folder in your computer's ~/Pictures folder (the "~" symbol refers to your home directory).
The JPEG image contains metadata in a string in the following format.
GameName/Version Number (OS Version; CPU Speed; Installed RAM; Video RAM; Current Graphics Card)
For example in DiRT 4 the string might look a little like this:
DiRT 4/1.0 (Mac OS 10.14.2; 3.0; 8.0; 4.0; AMD Radeon R9 M395X)
This information can be easily removed by exporting the screenshot into a different format using Preview or another image editing tool.
NOTE: None of the metadata stored can be used to identify the user.
No. DiRT 4 has been tested with the basic formatting option for Mac OS X, which is HFS+. This system is not case-sensitive and identifies files by name without checking capitalization.
The capitalization of filenames is not consistent throughout the game. While this will not always prevent the game from running on case-sensitive file systems, it may lead to crashes and other unpredictable behaviour.
If you have to run a case-sensitive setup and you experience problems with DiRT 4, please install the game on a standard formatted partition or read/write disk image. In most cases this will allow you to play the game on your machine.
Please read the technical support information in the ReadMe; this tells you what to check and if necessary, how to contact Feral Technical Support with your issue.
